The Math Of Life

We have all spent a few years of our life looking out for the values of X & Y but back then these were important as we had to clear our exams and come out with flying colours to live up to people’s expectations. But as we grow up and graduate, we look back at things and think if those formulas are ever gonna help us in life? Well, they do help us somewhere in life but most of us don’t need the ‘X’ and ‘Y’ who screwed up maths for us as soon as they entered the syllabus.

But as we grow up, we start realising that ‘X’ and ‘Y’ weren’t the toughest problems for which we had to find solutions or let’s just say those were not even problems as compared to the bigger picture that we come across now. So what’s the bigger problem then? Well, fortunately and unfortunately there’s a more difficult problem then the math of school. Let’s just call it the math of life for now.

The problems here don’t start with ‘X’ and ‘Y’, they start with ‘Ex’ and ‘Why’. It’s funny how we applied our own formulas back then in school to figure out the value and now we find it hard to solve these small problems of our life.

I’m not saying we can apply the same formulas here because that wouldn’t make sense but there surely has to be a formula to deal with these problems as well and from what I’ve learnt in the last few years there’s one formula for sure. It is hard to execute that but if you do, you’ll be one hell of a genius in dealing with the problems of life.

Back then we gave a lot of importance to ‘X’ and ‘Y’ and that’s exactly what has to be changed in this math of life. We did additions and multiplications back then but now that it has come up to ‘Ex’ and ‘why’, applying the same formula is just gonna screw things up. So what do we do then?

Well, try shifting the formula. Do subtraction and division instead. Subtract your ‘ex’ and move on. I know it’s easier said than done but just give it a thought, going back in time is fine but staying back just isn’t! Because sooner or later it’s gonna lead you to your next problem which is ‘Why’. And believe me when these ‘ex’ lead to ‘why’ the problems just add up. Live your life the way you want, let bygones be bygones, things happened because you wanted them to happen back then but bringing them back is not the right decision to make.

So here’s one simple formula to solve the problems of our life because unlike the mathematical problems in school, these problems exist in our mind more than they do in reality. ‘When things aren’t adding up in your life, start subtracting‘ – Because that’s how you score a 100% in your life and accept it or not, none of us would ever want to fail in the math of life. We all just want to be a topper because few years down the line the ‘Ex’ and ‘Why’s won’t add up.

Yeh Kahaani hai deewaani!!

Movies!! The word itself sound’s interesting, doesn’t it? We often watch movies for entertainment, just because it’s good to take a little break from the real life and built some dreams that we watch in reel life.

Some movies are just for  the sake of entertainment, you go for it, you watch it and forget it as soon as you leave the multiplex but there are some movies that touch your heart, that teach you simple things that you would have not even thought of, some things that we all forget as we grow old. I am pretty sure the name of my blog itself gave you an idea of which movie I am talking about.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani it is! I went for this movie last week and those three hours were truly memorable not because I learnt something, I just watched it for entertainment and the actors.  After a few days I got this message and that’s when I realized that this movie teaches us so many things about life, this blog of mine is inspired from that text message I received.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani might not have the best of the story. But it certainly has a lot of valuable thoughts and teachings. Every scene in the movie had something that we might have overlooked but below is a list of all the scenes and the lessons we need to learn.

Scene 1: When Naina decides to take a break and go for the trekking trip with all the unknown people.

This shows that life is too short to be occupied. Decisions should be quick and should be the ones that give you “permanent happiness instead of temporary one.”

Scene 2: When Naina and Bunny trek the Boota hill knowing the rumors about it being haunted.

This shows that live life fearlessly. There is no better feeling than overcoming your fears.

Scene 3: When Aditi sends an emotional video message to Bunny inviting him for her marriage, considering that he won’t come as he will be busy in his professional dream life.

This shows that no matter what you do, where you work, what you have achieved, you will always be special for a few people.

Scene 4: When Aditi finally notices that Bunny has come to attend her marriage and she jumps out like any random wildest frog on earth.

This shows that some people may consider you as a major priority in your life without even letting you know. Nothing might give them happiness than just spending time with you.

Scene 5: When Bunny and Avi fight on the issue of not being in touch with each other since 8 years.

This shows that you need to find time to speak to the people around you even in your busiest of the schedules. It may be difficult but when you look back after neglecting it, all you see is the fault of others and not yours. No one asks you to text or call at every moment. Check out what’s happening and if you could help him/her to make it better.

Scene 6: When Bunny has to quit his dreams for his love Naina and has to stay back and not go to Paris.

Sometimes, life puts you in a situation when you are left absent minded. In such situations, always listen to what your heart says. Empty mind is a devils workshop. You sometimes need to re-plan your goals and ambitions according to the situations. “Not only yours, but the happiness of the person with you also matters.” This is the point we generally tend to forget as we have adapted to this selfish mentality of the mean world.

And to conclude this blog, just remember, the final choice is yours, Priority or friends, luxury life or peaceful life, self-smile or reason behind someone’s’ smile and more importantly, pre-planned goals and ambitions or situationally modified goals and ambitions.
